Spraout

For anyone with a food restriction, travel comes with a quiet worry: what will I be able to eat there? Spraout is a curated, community-sourced platform with a food-first approach to travel, built around that question.
The research began close to home. Being vegetarian made the problem personal, and going out into the same situation showed how much of a trip turns on food. The numbers backed it: 81% of Indians limit their meat in some way, and 39% are vegetarian.
The insight was that a list of restaurants isn’t enough. People need what locals know, down to single ingredients. So Spraout lets travellers pin food finds on a map with notes, read dish pages that warn when something like Chamthong is sometimes made with fermented fish, and plan a trip around what they can eat.
It goes beyond directories. It’s a personal, community-driven tool for exploring, documenting and connecting through food and the stories behind it. It’s about deeper connections with food and culture, rather than just listing options.
